Aim

A man without aim is a man available to every current. His schedule is set by whoever booked it. His attention is captured by whoever demanded it. His sense of a good year is provided by whichever narrative the surrounding culture happened to be running. He is not idle — he is often intensely busy — but the busyness is not building anything he chose.
